The ESSMA Summit 2017 opened with the Stadium Development Seminar, providing insights in different European stadium projects. The seminar welcomed 250 people, which is more than twice the amount of participants compared to last year’s edition in Bilbao. 

Last month, Stadium Partner Philips Lighting, announced VfL Wolfsburg as the first German club to adopt its connected LED pitch lighting. Take a look at this video below what this means. 

From 16 to 18 January, the third annual ESSMA Summit took place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais. With 350 delegates participating, this edition proved to be successful. 

During the last months of 2016, we could strengthen our team: we welcomed three new advisory committee members, we’ve put a new legal structure in place and we welcomed a new employee, Sofie Jans. Moreover, we can count on the experience of Guillaume Desmet, who will support us during ESSMA events. 

Mestalla Stadium was the host of the last ESSMA workshop of 2016. Forty-seven specialists gathered in Valencia to discuss and exchange knowledge on the topic of fan entertainment. Interventions from Valencia CF, LaLiga and the AFEPE (National Association of Football Fans) on day 1 and Stoke City FC and Juventus FC on Day 2 together with an extensive stadium visit and networking opportunities contributed to a successful second edition.

Based on the defined criteria and after a voting period from 14 November until 1 December, we are pleased to welcome 3 new advisory committee membersJürgen Muth, CEO Allianz Arena; Michal Siara, Marketing Manager Ekstraklasa and Pierre Venayre, CEO Stade Rochelais. 

Stadiaworld and ESSMA, The European Stadium & Safety Management Association, conducted a survey amongst operators of professional sports stadiums. More than 500 operators from four continents were asked about their weighting of several topics.

The second USA Fan Experience Tour took us to the West Coast, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, from 6 to 11 November. On this tour we visited 9 unique venues with 24 European stadium experts from 7 different countries. The main focus was to inspire European stadiums with best practices on fan and customer experience. 

The first edition of the World Football Summit in Spain took place 27th and 28th October in Madrid. As a meeting point for professionals, companies and institutions - the movers and shakers shaping the future of football in the world - this Summit proved to be successful.
