ESSMA’s Stadium Development Report Issue 3 2018 is out

The third issue of the 2018 Stadium Development Report provides information on the stadium projects of Hertha Berlin, Stade Brestois, Hardturm Stadium, AEK Athens and AS Roma. In addition, there are insights and updates on the training facilities projects of Leicester City FC, AFC Bournemouth and PSG. Training centre projects:

  • The Paris Saint-Germain Campus will include a 5,000 seat stadium, training pitches, additional training facilities, a clubhouse and facilities for handball and judo. 

  • The key components of the new Leicester City FC training centre include 12 full-size pitches, an indoor pitch, several smaller pitches as well as a main building with facilities for the first team, youth academy, medical facilities, etc. In addition, the club added a plan to generate a ‘net increase’ in biodiversity across the area.

  • Facilities of the AFC Bournemouth new training centre complex will include 10 full size pitches, 3 junior pitches, an indoor artificial playing surface, state-of-the-art medical, fitness, sports science and rehabilitation facilities and a press conference theatre. The training ground will reportedly cost over £10 million to complete, with more than a dozen outdoor pitches (not all full-size) and an indoor pitch.

Stadium development/renovation projects:

  • Stade Brestois 29 plan to build a new multifunctional stadium with a capacity of 13.000 and a projected cost between €70 to 80 million.

  • The new Hardturm stadium, future home of FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich, will be part of the larger ‘Ensemble-Projekt’ and will have a capacity of 18,000.

  • AS Roma aim to play in their new stadium by the start of the 2020/21 season. With a €400 million investment the club wants to build their new 52,500 seat stadium.
