ESSMA Stewarding Benchmark
As stewarding is an integral part of stadium operations, ESSMA gathered best practices regarding attracting, retaining and training stewards. According to ESSMA's Stewarding Benchmark report, a new steward receives e.g. 16 hours training on average, and an additional 7 per year of stewarding. The main topics of training are communications, knowledge of the stadium and evacuation procedures, customer service and conflict resolution. In general, 1 steward per 89 fans is scheduled to guarantee the safety.
Based on direct members input, ESSMA collects a significant amount of recent and relevant data. We analyse these data to deliver insights on the evolutions in the stadium industry. Furthermore, we provide updates on stadium development projects in real-time to our members.
In 2019, 91 leagues and clubs used the ASK ESSMA-service to find an answer to their individual questions and received a tailored report.
Examples of Ask ESSMA requests include:pro’s and cons of loyalty programmes for fans, challenges for retractable roofing and an update regarding European stewarding programmes.
