Until 1971, players from Stade Laval had the habit of playing their games in the Jean Yvinec Stadium. Under the initiative of the Mayor at the time, Dr. Francis Le Basser, a new sports complex would see the day in the rue Pierre de Coubertin.
In 1976, Stade Laval (led by Michel Milinaire) promoted to the First Division (former name of the Ligue 1). The attendancy at Stade Francis Le Basser then increased dramatically.
During the summer of 2001, Francis Le Basser stadium has undergone major changes to meet the new standards of the Football League, and for the enjoyment of spectators.
