Leinster Rugby

Short history

The ground is the former home stadium of Leinster Rugby (who now play in the nearby RDS Arena) and they still play friendly games in Donnybrook. The Ireland A Ireland Women's Team and Leinster schools and underage sides of all ages play home games in the stadium.

The Leinster Branch offices are now situated across the road from the stadium in Donnybrook, renovated in recent years. The Leinster Schools have been the predominant users of the new stand, since its opening (January 27th, 2008). With the new stand, the capacity of Donnybrook is the perfect ground for Club games, Amateur Internationals, Leinster A Games and Ireland A Games.

The stadium has a capacity of 6,000 with a single, 2,500 seater stand. A new grandstand (pictured) was completed in early 2008. Plans were also launched in the summer of 2007 to construct a stand to the east of the ground. However due to strong local objections about the proposed height of the new stand and the reluctance to lose the current tennis facilities located on the proposed new site of the stand, the idea was scrapped before it reached the planning stage.

Important events

The stadium hosted a Michael Bublé concert in July 2008.
