Celtic Park expansion plans approved by council
Celtic FC have confirmed that planning permission in principle has been granted in relation to recent development proposals to create a hotel, museum, retail and ticket office facilities. The club’s vision aims to deliver benefits to the club and their supporters to further regenerate the East End of the city.
The project will cost around £18 million. The decision notice states that construction work has to be started within a period of three years. The development will create around 120 jobs, provide an economic boost to the area and reduce traffic jams around the stadium.
“The history of the football club and its worldwide support mean that Celtic Park regularly attracts visitors outwith match days with stadium tours, the club shop and ticket office. Provision of a club museum and improved shop/ticketing facilities as proposed will greatly enhance the visitor experience and will help to sustain jobs and economic activity throughout the year.”
