ESSMA led a Stadium Safety & Security Workshop at World Stadium Congress
This year’s World Stadium Congress was held 21-24 May in Doha, Qatar with a focus on the delivery requirements for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™. Together with several stakeholders, participants had the chance to discuss pre-event, on the day and post-event delivery requirements – from construction, to fan experience, to legacy and beyond.
ESSMA was a proud supporting partner of this 8th instalment where 200 participants from all over the world were brought together.
World Stadium Congress welcomed interesting guest speakers like Ross Aitken who shared his knowledge on venue management, challenges and lessons learned from the Rugby World Cup 2015. As well as Diego Rodriguez, Senior Sports Architect at IDOM, a Corporate Partner of ESSMA, who explained more about VIP spaces at football stadiums. During the three-day event, about 40 speakers contributed to the event’s success.
Dimitri Huygen, Managing Director of ESSMA, led a Stadium Safety & Security Workshop with presentations from several ESSMA members.
Alfredo Lorenzo, Security Director of LaLiga, focused on stakeholder contribution towards a good hosting principle. He discussed the LaLiga model and stressed out the League’s hard work to secure large-scale events, thus ensuring an unforgettable match day experience for fans. He also underlined ESSMA’s contribution to the industry and gave more info about the Ask ESSMA for LaLiga on ticket tout. (ASK ESSMA is a service included in the ESSMA Membership, providing solutions to specific individual member questions).
Paul Turner, Senior Director of Event Operations at AT&T Stadium, gave more insights about safety standards and customer experience with the NFL as best practice. He showed how safety regulations on match days impact fan experience and shared the purse/bag policy of AT&T Stadium as an example.
