Industry update: more on development, fan inclusion and ticketing
Read more on the Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace renovation project, in-app ticketing at Swansea City FC, the color-blind friendly Estádio do Dragão and more in ESSMA’s industry update.
Fan Experience & Hospitality
- Estádio do Dragão, home of FC Porto, will become a color-blind friendly venue by implementing the ColorADD code. This system will help those who experience difficulties in distinguishing or identifying colours and who may feel impaired when accessing the stadium, reinforcing commitment of the club in developing inclusive infrastructures.
Operations & Ticketing
- Swansea City FC now offers In-App ticketing to fans. It not only saves on printing but also reduces booking fees and is a more convenient solution for fans as tickets, fixtures, match reports and team news are now all accessed from one official app.
Development & Construction
- ESSMA Corporate Partner, Populous, has been appointed as Lead Architect for the €100 million Stade de la Meinau renovation project of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace. The project will increase the stadium’s capacity, create new fan spaces, and expand the South Stand – improving fan experience and opening significant new revenue streams to the Club. It will also incorporate new environmentally sustainable design features into the building. Commencing on site in May 2022, the project will be completed in July 2025.
- Leicester City FC relocated its training facilities to Seagrave a few weeks ago. The 180-acre site features: 21 playing surfaces, including 14 full-size pitches, a 499-seater, floodlit show pitch, the site’s primary training, medical, and administrative hub for the First Team and Academy, elite-standard sports science and medical facilities, customised gym and hydrotherapy facilities, etc.
