SMART & Sustainability

  • BASIS, together with #OneLess and the Marine Conservation Society, will organise a meeting focused on eliminating single-use plastic from sports events on Monday 3 December at Lord’s Cricket Ground. During the meeting, participants will explore the barriers and challenges that the sector faces in reducing single-use plastic, present best practice case studies that demonstrate what others have achieved already, and provide guidance on policy, ground safety, operational issues and waste management that will support participants in implementing positive changes in your events. ESSMA Members can register for a beneficial rate of £35, with the code ESSMA2018.
  • The 3MW energy storage system with used Nissan LEAF batteries of the Johan Cruijff Arena has won the Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice. The energy storage system provides back-up power, reducing the use of diesel generators, and provide relief to the energy grid by flattening the peaks that occur during concerts at the stadium.

Operations & Ticketing

  • Swansea City AFC added a new feature to their In-App Ticketing. Swans fans with a season ticket will be able to display their season card on their mobile phones at the turnstile to gain entry to Liberty Stadium. Fans will be able to acquire their season tickets through the club In-App Ticketing
