Industry update: more on ticketing, sustainability and stadium redevelopment
Read more on the reconstruction of Estadio El Sadar, a £30 cap on away tickets in the Premier League, 100% renewable energy at Planet-U Energy Stadium and more in ESSMA’s weekly industry update.
Development & Construction
- CA Osasuna presented its project to renovate Estadio El Sadar. The club gave its fans the possibility to vote and choose between five designs in the bidding procedure. Over 8,400 fans took part in the vote of which 45% choose the Muro Rojo design. The goal is to inaugurate the reconstructed stadium by 2020.
Operations & Ticketing
- All Premier League clubs decided unanimously to continue the £30 cap on away ticket prices for the next three seasons. The away ticket cap was introduced in the 2016/17 season as the clubs recognised the additional travel costs often involved when following a team away from home.
SMART & Sustainability
- The home of Bury FC, Planet-U Energy Stadium, will be powered by 100% renewable energy as the club has agreed to a five-year partnership with Planet-U Energy. In addition, the partnership will focus on additional environmental changes both at the club as well as for the fans.
Fan Experience & Hospitality
- Arsenal FC provides its fans with a free app through which they can collect and swap officially licensed collectibles. The app is essentially a digital football game where players are able to build a team by purchasing in-app team packs and by swapping items with supporters from all over the world. With this new technology, Arsenal FC wants to engage its fans in more valuable relationships with the club and players.
