Industry update: more on redevelopment, safe standing & fan experience

Development & Construction

  • The new FC Metz Stadium will have three main pillars as it takes over the exploitation: Build, Maintain and Operate. Overall, they will focus on seven activities including sporting activities, a restaurant, congress area, a business circle, external offices, co-working areas and organising non-sporting events to create a multifunctional stadium.

  • Athletic Bilbao recently opened a new sports bar, Geuria!, inside the stadium. It is a multifunctional space that combines the Athletic experience with high-quality entertainment facilities and to follow the club’s fixtures.

  • The redevelopment works at Estadio Municipal de Ipurua are finally completed. SD Eibar started with the project in 2014 and included a complete redevelopment of all stands as well as new facilities including a new mixed zone, gym, parking lots, etc.

Safety & Security

  • CA Osasuna started with the implementation of 1,300 safe standing places on the south stand on their Estadio El Sadar.

Fan Experience & Hospitality

  • BSC Young Boys newest app includes many interactive features including a voting function, an integrated quiz section, exclusive area with selected content, etc. Furthermore, the app is linked to the club’s ticketing system.

  • UEFA allows the return of fans at maximum 30% of capacity pending approval of local authorities. In addition, away supporters will not be allowed at venues until further notice.

Pitch Management

  • ESSMA Corporate Partner, SGL, is organising its fifth SGL LIVE on Thursday 15 October focussing on LED and sustainable pitch lighting together with experts from Tottenham Hotspur FC, Croke Park and Allianz Arena.
