LIFE TACKLE and ESSMA join forces for more sustainable stadiums
LIFE TACKLE is a EU co-funded project that involves 12 stadiums from 7 member states. In addition, the Italian, Swedish and Romanian football federation take part in the project. LIFE TACKLE aims at improving the environmental management of football matches and the overall level of awareness and attention towards environmental issues in the football sector through the implementation of best practices on environmental management.
As declared by Cyril De Greve, ESSMA Managing Director, “the recognition of the importance of sustainability is growing globally, as in the case of stadiums. More and more stadiums are taking steps to enhance their eco-friendliness. As a sector federation we want to bring relevant content on this subject as an inspiration for improvement. We believe that this partnership is key to achieving this goal.”
The partnership will involve different activities related to sustainability knowledge sharing, promotion and dissemination. One of the activities involves the distribution of surveys by ESSMA to its members in order to collect environmental management practices adopted by football organizations. These will be combined with the best practices of LIFE TACKLE to generate more practical sustainability guidelines for the stadium industry.
“We are proud to have ESSMA on board” declared Tiberio Daddi, Project Manager of LIFE TACKLE, “this win-win partnership will support the growth of the focus on sustainability within ESSMA and offer LIFE TACKLE a great opportunity to increase its impact by involving the ESSMA members and networks”.
