Last week, ESSMA held Mastermind meetings to discuss our content plan for 2023-2024. Experts from all over Europe joined us during these meetings to discuss the safety & security topics that ESSMA will focus on in the coming months and report at the ESSMA Summit 2024 in Amsterdam. Brace yourself as we unravel the power of these compelling topics, seamlessly intertwined for our upcoming Summit. Let us take you on our journey through this process.
ESSMA research timeline: a new approach
Safety & Security Management: chosen topics
Following the valuable feedback of our ESSMA Members and our mastermind group, in the months to come, we embark on a profound exploration of the following captivating subjects:
- "Stewarding":
(i) Stewarding as customer services - (ii) Stewarding attraction - (iii) Stewarding training programs and (iv) Stewarding Retention
> Members perceive this topic as the biggest priority for ESSMA to provide content. As next steps we will execute a member survey, interview key experts in our industry and transform into a report and practical toolkit, that will be revealed at our ESSMA Summit 2024.
For our central theme, "Stewarding & Staff", which takes the spotlight in the coming months, ESSMA has curated a dedicated survey to capture insights from European clubs and stadiums. To enrich this knowledge base, we will conduct in-depth interviews with industry experts who will explain us all about how they have solved the above-mentioned stewarding challenges. An in-depth seminar will be organized during the Amsterdam Summit joined by two clubs perceived as the best in class in our industry, combined with a practical toolkit that you can translate towards your own organization. - "Safe standing: the way forward"
> With the UEFA running its observer program for safe standing in UEFA competitions, the practice is clearly at the forefront of the industry. ESSMA will dive deeper into this topic throughout 2023 with interviews with stadiums & clubs who have already introduced safe standing in their venues and who can tell you more about the impact that it has on your venue and on your fans.
During the Amsterdam Summit, a safe standing block is foreseen with presentations on Safe Standing: “the future of safety & fan experience?”.
ESSMA Report
Prepare to be captivated! All the groundbreaking research and remarkable outcomes will converge at the grand stage of the 2024 Summit at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. But there's more! Following this monumental event, we will unleash a comprehensive report that delves deep into these transformative topics. This report will only be available to ESSMA Members.
ESSMA Stewarding survey
In order to gather more valuable information from across the European Stadium Industry, ESSMA has launched the Stewarding Survey. Within this survey we aim to gather more information on how clubs currently attract, train and retain stewards. All data gathered from this survey will be kept anonymous and will be analyzed with the goal of creating a comprehensive benchmark report to inform our members and help improve stewarding operations across Europe.
