Sebastian Breuing, Head Groundsman SV Werder Bremen, will take part in the ESSMA Pitch Management Workshop where he will share how they are tracking the weather at SV Werder Bremen. Breuing started his career as Groundsman in Bochum and got promoted to Head Groundsman in 2006 (then being the youngest Head Groundsman in the Bundesliga). Since 2014, he is working as Head Groundsman at SV Werder Bremen.
On 27-28 March, the Jupiler League, the 2nd division in the Netherlands, organised regional sessions with their clubs to exchange best practices on commercial exploitation. Every session welcomed 5 to 6 clubs creating an ideal scene for in-depth discussions and open communication.
Incidents and tragedies at stadiums around the world have once again sharpened the focus on safety and remind us we must never be complacent with people’s safety where they are.

ESSMA interviewed Martin Brummel, Grounds Manager at training centre “De Toekomst” of AFC Ajax. Martin has over 30 years of greenkeeper experience in both the golf and football industry. His career at AFC Ajax started in 2015 with daily tasks like pitch quality improvement, data collection and looking for/implementing innovations. Delegates of our Pitch Management Workshop, taking place 17 and 18 April in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), will have the opportunity to visit the training centre “De Toekomst”.
