This year’s European Stadium Tour from 2 to 5 July was held in Russia where several venues in Moscow and Saint Petersburg were visited.
From 29 August to 1 September, ESSMA will organise its Global Stadium tour to several venues in Miami and Minneapolis. Patrick Talty will show participants around the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Recently, ESSMA interviewed Patrick Talty, General Manager at the U.S. Bank Stadium about the day-to-day operations.
ESSMA Stadium Partner Philips announced an agreement to transform the lighting of the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium (capacity 42,500), home to Spanish La Liga club Sevilla FC.
The FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 starts today with the game between Russia and New Zealand at 6PM local time (5PM GMT+2). The opening match will be played at ESSMA Stadium Member FC Zenit's new Saint Petersburg Stadium.
On Friday 19 May the Khalifa International Stadium will host the 2017 Emir Cup final between long lasting rivals Al Rayyan and Al Sadd. It will be the first match played in the recent renovated stadium. The renovations were mandatory to host matches up to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
ESSMA developed a report on the impact of UEFA EURO 2016 on French stadium development. This report combines learnings and outcomes from different sources: 1) Rapport Grand Stades EURO 2016 2) ex-ante assessment of the economic impact of EURO 2016 and the economic and social impact of EURO 2016 by Centre de Droits et d’Economie du Sport (CDES) 3) Stadium Development panel discussion from the ESSMA Summit 2017 in Lyon, France.
The possibilities new stadiums offer to clubs can be stated with various examples: increased stadium attendances, bigger budgets (through higher ticketing revenues, branding and improved revenues of F&B and hospitality) and higher supporter/visitor satisfaction rates.
