ESSMA interviewed Rob Toussaint, General Director at Heracles Almelo concerning commercial stadium exploitation, the impact of renovating their stadium and their next steps.
This yearâs SMART & Sustainability Workshop was organised at Amsterdam ArenA. Over 23 members from 10 countries learned insights and shared knowledge related to smart stadiums, energy management and sustainability cases. Moreover, participants enjoyed an extensive âinto the futureâ Amsterdam ArenA tour.
This yearâs Pitch Management Workshop was organised at Amsterdam ArenA. Over 55 members from 11 countries learned insights and shared knowledge related to multifunctional pitch management, dealing with weather and data tracking. Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to visit both the pitch of Amsterdam ArenA and the training facilities of AFC Ajax.

On 27-28 March, the Jupiler League, the 2nd division in the Netherlands, organised regional sessions with their clubs to exchange best practices on commercial exploitation. Every session welcomed 5 to 6 clubs creating an ideal scene for in-depth discussions and open communication.
ESSMA interviewed Martin Brummel, Grounds Manager at training centre âDe Toekomstâ of AFC Ajax. Martin has over 30 years of greenkeeper experience in both the golf and football industry. His career at AFC Ajax started in 2015 with daily tasks like pitch quality improvement, data collection and looking for/implementing innovations. Delegates of our Pitch Management Workshop, taking place 17 and 18 April in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), will have the opportunity to visit the training centre âDe Toekomstâ.Â
The World Stadium Congress will find its new home at the Amsterdam ArenA from 7-9 May 2018, once again gathering the leaders in sport infrastructure, tournament delivery and recreational facilities from across the globe to debate the future of stadium and arena design and development.
