ESSMA supported KNVB Expertise with a Stadium Exploitation Tour to three German stadiums: Commerzbank Arena, Sparda-Bank-Hessen-Stadion and Opel Arena. KNVB Expertise is a joint initiative consisting of Eredivisie CV, CED, KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) and FBO (Federation of Paid Football Organisations). Their aim is to professionalise Dutch (paid) football in terms of development.
Dublin’s iconic Aviva Stadium, home of the FAI and the IRFU, was the stunning backdrop for the ESSMA Summit 2018 this week. Organised by ESSMA (European Stadium & Safety Management Association) in partnership with the ECA (European Club Association) and the EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues), the ESSMA Summit has become the must-attend event for those involved in the stadium industry.
ESSMA interviewed Oleksii Zhukovin, Deputy Head of the Competition Department at FC Zenit during the Safety & Security Workshop in Dortmund. Oleksii Zhukovin was one of the speakers and presented the stewarding system transformation of FC Zenit when moving to the new Krestovsky stadium.

During the ESSMA Safety & Security Seminar in Dortmund, Lasse Bauer (Supporter Liaison Officer) and Mickel Lauritsen (former Director of Security & Stadium Operations) presented how and why Brøndby IF developed their own pyrotechnics. ESSMA interviewed Lasse Bauer about the different steps in the process and the reaction of their fans.
ESSMA interviewed Phivos Constantinides, General Manager at GSP Stadium, during the Safety & Security Workshop in Dortmund about the importance of training stewards and how to motivate them. Furthermore, he gave insights about his presentation regarding steward training and formation at GSP Stadium, home of Cypriot First Division teams Apoel FC and AC Omonia.
ESSMA supported the French Professional Football League – LFP – with a Belgian stadium tour for 30 representatives from 13 clubs. The delegation visited KV Oostende, Royal Antwerp FC, KAA Gent, KV Mechelen and STVV to listen and learn how they are managing topics within CRM, hospitality, ticketing, construction and revenue generation.
