Industry news: more on sustainability, security and cashless payments

SMART & Sustainability

 

  • Forest Green Rovers will compensate carbon emissions generated by all fans travelling to New Lawn Stadium as well as during away matches by building an offset into every ticket. Emissions will be calculated by the club through analysing distances travelled by supporters and the methods of transport they’re using.



 

Safety & Security

 

  • Borussia Mönchengladbach is partnering up with ESSMA Corporate Partner, Safesight, to improve safety-related communication at BORUSSIA-PARK. The software of Safesight guarantees that all involved staff, know and accept their responsibilities and tasks. Furthermore, it enables the club to make safety-related information available in real-time.

 

 

Fan Experience & Hospitality

 

  • From the 2019/20 season, Paris FC is introducing a cashless payment system at Charlety. With the cashless payment system, the clubs aims to reduce serving time and improve the overall matchday experience for its fans.



  • Northampton Town FC, winner of the 2018/19 EFL Inside Entertainment Award, has introduced a mobile escape room. During all home fixtures, fans will be able to experience the football-themed escape room at the Trapp’d bus. 



  • King Power at Den Dreef will become a cashless stadium. Fans of OH Leuven are able to pay with their season ticket card or via a separate dedicated card. With the StarNet app, fans are able to charge the card accordingly at home or via several charging points at the stadium.

 

 

General News

 

  • The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will expand from 24 to 32 teams, following the successful 2019 edition. In May 2020, FIFA will announce the host(s) for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
