The increasingly fast evolution of technology and consumer demand, is causing the football sector to evolve and implement new technologies to enhance the fan experience. ESSMA’s Corporate Partner 3D Digital Venue builds 360-degree 3D interactive ticketing solutions that aim to enhance the fan experience to increase season ticket holder renewals and provide unique viewing experiences for potential VIPs. By using the technology, fans are able to experience a 3D view of their allocated seat in the stadium.

Míde Ní Shúilleabháin – Facilities, Safety & Sustainability Officer at Croke Park – outlined the stadium’s sustainability initiatives and how they talk about sustainability towards their fans and the wider community.

Rui Lousa - Commercial CEO at FC Porto - shared insights on Estádio do Dragão, host venue of the fifth ESSMA Summit. Estádio do Dragão was inaugurated in 2003 with the aim of hosting three group stage matches, a quarterfinal and a semifinal at the UEFA Euro 2004. In addition, it has been elected to host the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals. With a relatively low investment of €125 million, the stadium did manage to win several awards regarding construction, sustainability and good environmental practices including the ECA Best Achievement (Non-Sporting) Award for its eco-friendly stadium.

Thomas Otton and Guillaume Gouze – respectively Communication Director and Head of Stadium Department at Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) – highlighted the opportunities offered by a post-match concert after the TOP 14 final to attract more fans during the ESSMA Summit in Porto.

As part of the Stadium Operations Seminar during the ESSMA Summit in Porto, David Steegen and Emmanuel Rutsaert discussed the catering and hospitality offerings at RSC Anderlecht (RSCA).

Wouter Gudde - Commercial Director at SBV Excelsior Rotterdam - shared insights on the the B2B and B2C growth of Excelsior Rotterdam at the ESSMA Summit in Porto.

Michael Lloyd – Deputy Stadium Manager at Arsenal FC – outlined how the club converted to 100% green electricity and which projects they have implemented to optimise their operational energy efficiency including the installation of a battery storage system and LED floodlights.

During the ESSMA Summit in Porto, William Mannarelli - Director of Real Estate at FC Barcelona - gave participants the latest updates on the Espai Barça project during the Stadium Development II Seminar.

Khalifa Al Mana - Project Senior Engineer at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy - provided ESSMA Summit participants with an update on all eight stadium projects which will be delivered for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™.

Bernard Gerritsma - Safety & Security Manager at Feyenoord Rotterdam - gave insights on Security Management Group, Feyenoord’s own security company, and the stewarding procedures at De Kuip during the ESSMA Summit in Porto.
