Sebastian Breuing, Head Groundsman SV Werder Bremen, will take part in the ESSMA Pitch Management Workshop where he will share how they are tracking the weather at SV Werder Bremen.

Breuing started his career as Groundsman in Bochum and got promoted to Head Groundsman in 2006 (then being the youngest Head Groundsman in the Bundesliga). Since 2014, he is working as Head Groundsman at SV Werder Bremen.

Incidents and tragedies at stadiums around the world have once again sharpened the focus on safety and remind us we must never be complacent with people’s safety where they are.

Taylor Adler, a Candidate of the FBA Professional Master in Football Business, about his experience and learnings of the Stadium Operations course powered by ESSMA. The FBA, an ESMMA Partner, offers its students a Professional Master in Football Business with the objective to deliver them all the necessary tools and an optimal learning environment in order to succeed in the passionate and dynamic football industry. 

Amsterdam ArenA will host our SMART and Sustainability Workshop organised on 18 and 19 April. During the two-day workshop, the team of Amsterdam ArenA will share in-depth how they handle energy storage at the stadium and will guide participants around the stadium with an ‘into the future’ tour.

ESSMA interviewed Paul Baas, Field Manager at Amsterdam ArenA and responsible for the pitch since the 2016/2017 season, about the daily operations and how they manage the pitch. Amsterdam ArenA is the host venue of our Pitch Management Workshop taking place on 17 and 18 April.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) design and build the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ stadiums on three pillars: Access & Control, Sustainability and Post-tournament Legacy.

The design proposal of ESSMA Stadium Partner Tractebel and GAU Arena for the new home of Cagliari Calcio was unveiled on February 28th. Tractebel and GAU Arena are one of the three shortlisted finalists out of 25 bidders.

Recreational Systems Europe (RSE), an ESSMA Corporate Partner, are an innovative provider of sustainable sports infrastructures, with a focus on (stadium) pitch management. RSE have partnered with RHENAC to market the RSE - RHENAC Stadium Grass Grow Lighting system. Clubs such as 1. FC Köln, Schalke 04 and SK Rapid Wien have successfully tested the RSE - RHENAC technology over the past years.

BASIS, British Association for Sustainable Sport, will organise its 7th annual BASIS Conference on 1–2 March at BBC North, MediaCityUK, Salford.

The RSE - RHENAC Stadium Grass Grow Lighting system manages to align the technical advantages of LED technology with the essential requirements for healthy grass growth. Light plays a different role in every stage of the lifecycle, from germination to growing and maintaining the grass. Moreover, LED technology is known for consuming only a fraction of the energy conventional systems require when attributing to the grass growth. ESSMA interviewed Horst Theisen about the RSE-RHENAC Stadium Grass Grow Lighting system.
