ESSMA interviewed Majella Smyth, who has been Head Groundsman at the AVIVA Stadium in Dublin for several years. He will participate in the ESSMA Summit 2018.

As Oscar Perez is leaving ESSMA, we would like to thank him for his years of commitment, passion and dedication in the growth of ESSMA. His support has contributed in significant progress in Spain with a successful 2016 Summit in Bilbao. We would like to wish him all the best with the further development of INsports Management and the organisation of the EuroLatam congress, which builds a bridge between Europe and Latin America.

ESSMA supported the French Professional Football League – LFP – with a Belgian stadium tour for 30 representatives from 13 clubs. The delegation visited KV Oostende, Royal Antwerp FC, KAA Gent, KV Mechelen and STVV to listen and learn how they are managing topics within CRM, hospitality, ticketing, construction and revenue generation.

This month marks the end of the ESSMA Advisory Committee role of Mickel Lauritsen. He has done an outstanding job for the past 3 years shaping the Safety and Security cluster to what it is today. ESSMA thanks him for his work and commitment in the message from the Executive Committee.

The fourth ESSMA Summit will be organised from 16 to 17 January 2018 in Aviva Stadium (Dublin, Ireland), home of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). This must-attend stadium industry event is organised by ESSMA in partnership with the EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues) and ECA (European Club Association).

This year’s Safety & Security Management Workshop was organised at Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund. Over 60 members from 14 countries could learn more about crowd management, pyrotechnics, ingress and egress and other safety & security related topics.

The Digital Sports Day took place Tuesday 31 October in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Around 500 sports professionals were present to gain insights in digital marketing and the online landscape in sports. Discover key takeaways on social platforms, fan experience and big data.

ESSMA took part in the Digital Sports Day 2017 which was organised in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The focus of this one-day event was on digital marketing and the online landscape in the sports industry. Twenty digital experts shared their know-how and insights to 500 participants from the Netherlands and Belgium.

Some sixty members of the European Stadium & Safety Management Association (ESSMA) assembled for the sold-out Fan Entertainment Workshop in Turin, Italy, on 3-4 October. The venue for the two-day event was Allianz Stadium, home of Juventus FC.
